Etymology · व्युत्पत्ति

अश्विन् = हलन्त-लोप → अश्विन

The root word अश्विन् carries a final halant (the grammatical stem); as a given name the halant is dropped (अश्विन), and the English form takes no trailing schwa, so “Aśvin”, not “Aśvina”.
