अक्षज / अक्षजा

अक्षज = अक्षर (अविनाशी) + ज / जा (उत्पन्न, जनन / जायते)

If we think for a minute — what is it in the world that doesn't decay? Anything finite decays. Life-forms, mountains, the sun and solar system all have a lifetime. That which doesn't decay must be Bhagwān (akṣara). And the child of that akṣara is akṣaja / akṣajā. The Sanskrit letter ज / जा denotes 'born of' (जनन / जायते). For example, a lotus born in water is नीरज / नीरजा (नीर = water), or पङ्कज / पङ्कजा (पङ्क = mud). Similarly, akṣaja means 'born of the imperishable' — child of Infinity.
