Etymology · व्युत्पत्ति

नभस् = हलन्त-लोप → नभस

The root word नभस् carries a final halant (the grammatical stem); as a given name the halant is dropped (नभस), and the English form takes no trailing schwa, so “Nabhas”, not “Nabhasa”.

Seeing You touching the sky, blazing with many colours, with gaping mouths and huge fiery eyes, my heart trembles within. I can find no courage and no peace, O Vishnu.
